At St Paul’s CE (VC) First School, we actively promote British Values, defined by the government as the following:

  • Democracy
  • The rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect
  • Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

Our school reflects British Values in all we do. We promote ‘Respect’ as a core value as we feel it is a fundamental value that we want our children to explore as they grow and learn with us.

We encourage our children to be creative, unique, open-minded and independent individuals, respectful of themselves and of others in our school, our local community and the wider world. We aim to nurture our children on their journey through life so they can grow into safe, caring, democratic, responsible and tolerant adults who make a positive difference to British Society and to the world.

Our School Christian Values

These British Values link well to the Christian Values that we explore in our weekly worship sessions:

  • Democracy – Responsibility / Honesty / Hope
  • The Rule of Law -Responsibility / Cooperation
  • Individual Liberty –  Inspire/ Hope / Courage
  • Tolerance & Respect – Understanding / Cooperation & Friendship

Please see the British Values Policy and Audit Document below that demonstrate how these values are promoted through our curriculum so that they are integral to the ethos of our school.
