At St Paul’s School Curriculum Intent

At our First School, our curriculum is designed to provide every child with a strong foundation for lifelong learning. We believe that early education should inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence while nurturing the whole child — academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Our curriculum is broad, balanced, and inclusive, ensuring that all pupils are supported and challenged to achieve their best. It builds upon children’s natural sense of wonder and encourages active learning through play, exploration, and meaningful experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

We place a strong emphasis on the core skills of reading, writing, and mathematics, while also valuing the arts, sciences, humanities, and physical education as essential parts of a rich learning journey. Personal, social, and emotional development are woven through all areas of learning to help children become kind, resilient, and respectful members of their community.

Through high-quality teaching and a nurturing environment, we aim to foster independence, curiosity, and a love of learning that will prepare our pupils for the next stage of their education and beyond.
